Indonesia has a lot of traditional delicious food. I have a lot of favorite dishes from Indonesia. But if I need to choose one, I prefer Nasi Bungkus Padang as my favorite Indonesian Food. When I was sick two years ago, I could not eat it because it contained fat and cholesterol. I needed to do fat diet, so I couldn’t eat it for six month 😦 .
Nasi bungkus is simple white rice with favorable main dish as chicken, beef, or vegetable. The different between nasi bungkus Padang with other nasi bungkus is it serve with cucumber, cassava leaf, jack fruit curry, and other dish that you like such as fried egg, chicken, rendang, cancang, fish, or tunjang. Maybe there are some food you do not know such as rendang, cancang, or tunjang. Basically, jack fruit, cancang, and tunjang are cooked with herbs, chili, and coconut milk. The difference is the meat that you use. Cancang use lamb and tunjang use cow foot that boiled until soft. I often buy nasi bungkus Padang with grilled chicken.
I love to eat nasi Padang at home rather than dine in. The taste is more delicious when you eat it for take away. Beside that, if you take away nasi bungkus Padang, the portion is huge. But I still can finish it *gembul*. Looking at this picture makes me want this nasi bungkus Padang again.

Bukan daun pisangnya, sih, Mbak, bagian dalam kertasnya itu yang khas (mengkilap gitu).
Kalau di sini, cuma se*erhana yang punya bungkusan seperti itu. 😀 Kalau RM lainnya, kertasnya agak buram dan daun pisangnya lebih lebar, setahuku.

The one thing that still makes me confused in every Padang restaurant is why do they give full portion of rice when one take away the food, but they only give a half when one do dine in? :hihi.
Kalau baca-baca artikel dan mendengar cerita dari temenku, karena dulu yang bisa makan enak di rumah makan itu hanya orang Belanda dan juga saudagar kaya. Untuk mengakali agar keluarga pribumi dapat makan enak juga, maka para pemilik rumah makan padang memberikan nasi bungkus dengan porsi yang lebih banyak agar bisa dinikmati makan bersama keluarga nya gitu. Jadi yang makan di tempat bayar lebih mahal. Semacam subsidi silang 😀

Nasi padang yang dibungkus, emang bikin ngiler gimana gitu. semester 2 dulu tuh mbak, aku kalau main ke kost temen, pasti mampir ke warung padang buat beli nasi bungkus ini. menurut aku, nasi padang yang bungkus lebih nikmat, apalagi dirumah makannya sambil lasehan, pake tangan biasa 😀 mantaaap 😀
